Modern Physics

A look at the major developments of Physics.

What are the century old developments that drive research in Physics today? In this course, we look at developments that have brought phenomenal changes to the world. This course is an application of ideas learnt in the foundational physics courses.

Study Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity through a generalization of classical space-time. Study Blackbody radiation, Photoelectric Effect, electronic and atomic models with introductory Wave Mechanics to sum up the new ideas of quantum physics in a historically relevant manner.

This course is mainly theoretical in nature, and we look at X‑rays and radioactivity to carry forward the arguments relevant to the domain of nuclear physics. We also do a few experiments to apply your learning in a practical way.
