Development has institutional dimensions. Understanding institutions is a key part of development practice. In this course we study India’s elaborate systems of public administration and law which enable processes of development while constraining them. We introduce you to the concept of law and the legal system and the practices of public administrative systems and governance. In addition to learning in the classroom, you will also conduct in-depth fieldwork and explore the lived reality of legal and governance institutions through a Practicum.
