Geospatial Technology II: Remote Sensing of the Environment

Introduce basic principles of remote sensing and its applications in the fields of conservation ecology, global environmental change, climate change and sustainability.

The course is an introduction to state-of-the art Remote Sensing and its applications for the environment. The course will enable the students to use remotely sensed data and methods for resource management in the fields of conservation ecology, global environmental change, climate change, sustainability and many others. The course will introduce basic principles of remote sensing, downloading satellite data, processing, visual interpretation and extracting environmental information and temporal changes to address different environmental issues. The course will be held through lectures and hands-on exercises. At the end of the course, students will apply concepts learned in the course to create their own remote sensing project to investigate a chosen environmental issue.
