The last two centuries have had an unprecedented abundance of energy. This has changed the ways in which human beings live and the notions of comfort and luxury. But the production of this energy has produced dangerous waste that affect (and will affect) human populations in dangerous ways. In this course, we go over the physics and economics of energy and see how the production and use of energy goes into nation-building projects. 

We will study the history of energy policy and choice of technology in India since Independence while learning basic concepts around energy science (conversation, fuel, and energy carriers) and the implications of using energy science for human endeavours.
