This course is an exploration of the chemical basis of life and has two broad themes. The first theme is about basic principles of physical chemistry and how they can be applied in biological contexts. The second theme is the chemical nature of different cellular constituents and the mechanisms by which some important biomolecules are synthesized. The chemistry of metabolic processes will be an important part of the second theme.
