Biology of the Cell

Introduces students to the structures and processes within cells.

The cell is considered to be the fundamental unit of life. Biology of the cell is an introduction to structures and processes within cells. Some essential topics that will be covered include components of cells and their functions, mechanisms of cell division, an overview of cellular metabolism and the organisation of genetic information and how this is decoded to enable cellular functions. The mechanisms of replication of genetic information will also be covered. Some important molecular biology tools will be introduced through laboratory activities.
