i wonder… | How Do Children Know the Earth is Not Flat?
Anand Narayanan in conversation with Amol Anandrao Kate
Middle school science and geography textbooks tell children that the Earth is near-spherical in shape rather than flat. But can children relate to this fact through their own real-world observations? Or infer it through simple experiments with locally available materials? Why is it important for children to discover this fact by personal experience? What can such experiences teach them about ‘knowing’ the world through the process of science? How can we, as teachers, facilitate such experiences?
To explore this and other questions, join us in an interactive discussion with Anand Narayanan and Amol Anandrao Kate.
The discussion will be in English and Hindi.
