Azim Premji University will hold an exhibition of its Schoolbooks Archive, an open-access digital repository of over 7,965 books and related materials, along with a few hundred print copies of archived books from August 18 – 19 at Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The two-day exhibition, ‘Schoolbooks and related documents: A journey through two centuries’, will be held at Rajiv Gandhi Vidya Bhawan Shiksha Sankul, Jaipur.
In November 2021, Azim Premji University unveiled the Schoolbooks Archive, an attempt to collect and curate schoolbooks and related documents that have been in use in India and the sub-continent over the last two hundred years.
The growing collection includes textbooks, anthologies, reference works such as dictionaries, glossaries, atlases, works on school management, pedagogy, psychology and health manuals, and scores of curriculum documents for school and teacher education programmes.
With its focus on history and the contemporary world, the repository is expected to benefit teachers, teacher educators, students in teacher education courses, curriculum and textbook developers, illustrators, and researchers on various aspects of school education.
