Making a Molehill Out of a Mountain

A season of tragic disasters kept the Himalayan states of Himachal and Uttarakhand in the news this monsoon with everyone asking the same question — Why are the mountains crumbling? Are these natural disasters? What has it to do with the climate crisis? And what should be our’ response? The answers lie somewhere at the intersections of society, ecology, politics & economics, global and local. In this talk, we explore the making of a hazardscape’ specifically in context of the Western Himalayas state of Himachal. 


About the Speaker 

Manshi Asher is a researcher-activist and one of the founder members of Himachal based Himdhara Collective. For the last over 20 years, she has, as part of various social organizations, engaged with issues of environmental justice and political ecology.
