This course will introduce students to the unique and expressive qualities of working with clay. Clay is a tangible medium that can be controlled and manipulated, providing a sense of agency in a world that often feels uncontrollable. At the same time, clay serves as a metaphor for our subconscious thoughts and the workings of the mind. By embracing the unconstrained nature of clay and the freedom of expression it offers, students will be encouraged to explore the endless possibilities of both the art and their own selves.

The course will focus on developing a solid understanding of the medium and techniques necessary to communicate effectively with clay. Students will learn to speak the language of art in a personal and universal way, developing their own unique style while also mastering the basics of the medium. With patience and practice, students will develop a bond with the clay and gain the skills to express themselves artistically. Throughout the process, they will learn to balance control and unpredictability, seriousness and humour, detachment and attachment, and discover the joy of self-expression through this versatile medium.
