Biography

Tara has an experience of teaching Chemistry to high school students for ten years across various boards that include national and international curricula. Prior to joining Azim Premji University, she worked at Primus Public School, Bengaluru for five years. She was teaching Chemistry to AS and A level students of the CAIE (Cambridge Assessment International Education) curriculum. 

She has a BSc (Honours) degree in Chemistry from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL), Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and a Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University, Vellore. She received a merit scholarship for two consecutive years for academic excellence at VIT University. 

Recently, she further pursued MA Education from University of Nottingham, UK, for which she received a 100% scholarship from the Commonwealth Commission, UK

She is the recipient of Raman Experiential Science Teacher (REST) Award 2019 for her work on Teaching Chemistry through cooking’ at an event conducted by Raman Research Institute (RRI), in association with Innovation and Science Promotion Foundation (ISPF) and ThinkTac. 

Tara is a certified National Geographic Educator for a project she has conducted with her students on sustainable alternatives to plastics, where the issue is looked at not only from a Chemistry perspective but also through an economical, geographical, and social lens.

She collaborated with educators from across the globe during her 2‑year study at University of Nottingham, which helped to widen her ideas on International Education and the best practices around the world. 

She is currently part of the Teacher Education group at the University and is involved in the professional practice component of the BSc BEd programme.
