Biography

Rahul is a trained anthropologist and ethnographer with primary research interests in neo-liberal economy and rural social change, caste-based policy articulations, and grassroots political mobilisations. He finished his doctoral degree from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, where he explored the dialectics of dual hierarchy and its metamorphosis since independence in rural Andhra Pradesh. Prior to joining the University, he was an Assistant Professor, from 2016 to 2021, at the Institute of Public Policy, National Law School of India University, Bengaluru. His upcoming edited volume, Caste Matters in Public Policy: Issues and Perspectives, explores the dynamics of a primordial socio-cultural institution like caste in the context of policy formulation and programme implementation. He is currently working on his monograph and is interested in exploring the ground-up public policy articulations and resuscitating the village’.
