Introduction to Organisms and Ecosystems
Pick up the key attitudes necessary for a study of biology with observation, exploration and imagination.
In this course, we look at an organism, its physiology, and its population. This will help you grow familiar with the breadth of biological phenomena, understanding what unifies various taxonomic groups and scales. We will evaluate and analyse biological data and see how contingency works in evolutionary processes. We will work with microbes, plants, invertebrates and vertebrates to understand the differences among organisms. This course also includes a semester-long field project in which you will observe, characterise, and quantify different aspects of microbes, plants, insects and birds.
