Azim Premji University invites applications for Faculty positions in the area of Policy Economics
Location: Bangalore

Azim Premji University was established in 2010 by the Azim Premji Foundation. The Foundation works extensively with the public school systems in many states in India, with a clear purpose - to contribute to a just, equitable, humane and sustainable society. The University supports Education and related fields of human development through its programmes of study that prepare professionals with integrity, competence and social commitment. Our research programmes contribute to knowledge relevant to these fields.

The University offers post-graduate degrees in the fields of Education, Development, Public Policy and Law and Development and also an undergraduate degree in the Sciences, Economics and Humanities. The University is committed to a socio-economically diverse body of students and staff.

We are interested in recruiting a faculty member with five or more years of experience in Economics and Public Policy. The candidate should have the experience of teaching, undertaking research and supporting institutional development in the areas of Public Policy and Economics. The position involves teaching courses in basic public policy related economic content for non-economic students, and courses related to programme evaluation and policy analysis. The latter two kinds of courses would require the candidate to be familiar with the various approaches to evaluating programmes and creating content relevant for policy analysis in the Indian context. In addition, it would be very helpful if the faculty member is familiar with the evaluation and policy analysis practice beyond the classroom to support various forms of student level engagements.

Apart from teaching in the master’s programmes, the faculty member will also have to develop content for additional academic programmes and possibly interface (as part of a team) with mid-career professionals in the governance system for whom such programmes may be targeted.

We would also expect the candidate to have an active research agenda in the area of public policy that can possibly enrich our work in the University and in the classroom.
