Job Title: Counselor

Location: Bangalore

We are looking for a trained male Counselor to provide psychological and emotional support to the students through their student life cycle, to maximize their potential for academic success. The counsellor will be part of a team of mental health professionals and support the psychological and emotional well-being of the students and the academic community on campus, by providing counseling, consultations and crisis interventions, while strictly adhering to high standards of confidentiality.

Patience and compassion for students dealing with a range of issues and challenges are mandatory requirements to provide students with a safe and secure space to talk about their problems and work closely with the students to develop and implement solutions.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Create a caring and supportive culture on campus
  • Train and organize student support groups to be sensitive and empathetic towards others
  • Create training programs on leadership, peer support and guidance etc.
  • Develop a systemic guidance and support programme (in collaboration with Student Affairs team) which addresses the domains of personal / social development and academic development
  • Build rapport with students on campus to maximize quality and effectiveness of counseling
  • Collaborate and consult with parents, guardians, faculty and stakeholders regarding student well-being
  • Facilitate referrals as needed for domain experts, when necessary
  • Plan a systematic process for student support and follow-up (including but not exclusive to a student support services handbook).
  • Adhere to the policies and ethical standards of the University.
  • Conduct or organize regular workshops on varied themes ranging from gender bias, class politics to time management, stress management etc.
Profile Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Psychology/ Counselling
  • Relevant experience in the field would be preferred.
