Manoj came to the university with experiences both in the development sector as well as in the university Education. He started his teaching career in 1997 as a lecturer of Hindi language and literature in a degree college in his home state Bihar. Manoj then moved on to a more interdisciplinary assignment with the department of peace studies in Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha in 2002. Between 2004 and 2006, he also spent two academic years in the Indology Department of Gent University, Belgium. In 2007, Manoj joined Digantar, Jaipur, where his main responsibilities included conducting courses on foundations of education with the help of a team and providing academic support to the field staff in implementing projects in government schools of Rajasthan. Prior to joining the university Manoj spent two and half years with the Room to Read, India and worked there as a Programme Manager leading the Book Publishing team which is responsible for the developing and publishing engaging reading material for emergent readers.
