Maitri teaches reading and writing courses at the School of Arts and Sciences, Azim Premji University. Her masters dissertation was around Philip Pullman's conception of childhood in His Dark Materials trilogy, and its subsequent consequences to the child reader. Her interests, however, have shifted over the last few years to children's literature in India and where it intersects with education.
