Photo-exhibition by the Students of Azim Premji University

Date: February 27 - 28, 2016

Time: 11 am to 7 pm

Venue: Rangoli Metro Art Centre MG Road

This photo exhibit by students at Azim Premji University narrates the life stories of women from different parts of East and Central India. The stories travel from the Garos in Assam, Sahariyas in Madhya Pradesh, Kandhas in Odisha, Bengali Muslims in West Bengal, Oraons in Chhattisgarh, the self-help groups in Pariya tolas in Jharkhand and the slum dwellers in Bhopal. The work of our students in Health and Nutrition specialization throws open windows into the journeys of women as they go through the rite of passage of motherhood. These real life stories witness a range of events that move from the mundane to the extraordinary (the birth or death of a child/mother) as well as varied experiences including accessing formal and informal spaces of care or even ruptures in such care. These stories are co-written by those who the women encounter in this journey of motherhood i.e. the ASHAs, Sahiyas, Ojhas, dais, family members, multi-purpose Village Health Workers, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives and the doctors.
