Master of Education (M.Ed.)
Azim Premji University is launching a M.Ed. Programme (Master of Education) with specialisation in Elementary and Secondary education. The programme will commence in July 2018.
We seek to enrol students who are interested in a deep engagement with the process of teacher education through specialized domains of knowledge.
The eligibility criteria for students entering this programme will be as per the NCTE norms.
The two-year full-time Master of Education (M.Ed.) programme aims to develop professionals with
sound disciplinary knowledge along with critical perspectives on education, curriculum, teaching and
learning, and capable of analysis, reflection, conceptual thinking, and meaningful action.
PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
Teaching about teaching is complex. It includes knowledge of curricular content, teaching and learning
and understanding of how knowledge base for teaching is acquired. It is also important to address the
beliefs of the prospective teacher educators with respect to various aspects of education including
content, pedagogy, learners and their contexts. It is hoped that the proposed program will develop all
these capabilities, attitudes and commitment required for a teacher educator.
This is a two-year, full-time, professional teacher educator preparation programme that awards a M.Ed. Degree. The programme focuses on:
- Critical perspectives about education
- Knowledge in the disciplines of Mathematics and Science
- Sensitivity towards contexts of teaching and teacher education
- Continuum of pre-service to in-service teacher education
- Field practice in schools and teacher education institutions.
- 'Hands on-Minds on' workshops
- Research related to teacher education
