Biography
Abhijeet studied Microbiology in his Master’s and taught Genetics and Immunology for almost three academic years. He then took to Philosophy of Science and Science Education during his doctoral studies. He is primarily interested in the development of scientific explanations and science learning. His research and teaching interests have now grown towards the philosophy of education, particularly in the areas of ethics and education.
He has taught courses in Philosophy of Education, History and Philosophy of Science, Science Education, and Cognitive Psychology at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR, Mumbai; Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai; National Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhubaneshwar; and Ambedkar University, Delhi.
Courses
Science Education
Aims to develop an understanding of the nature of scientific knowledge and practices, the issues and ideas concerning the learning and teaching of science, and the study of the conceptual and practical demands of good science teaching.
Nature of Science
This course introduces science to the education students: science itself is the object of this course.
Philosophy of Education
A course going over the concepts, methodologies and interdisciplinary intersections that determine educational action in various contexts.
Curriculum Studies
The word ‘curriculum’ has its origin in the racing tracks of ancient Greece, to mean, quite literally, a course.
